Newcastle Offshore Wind
EPS Energy is working with Newcastle Offshore Wind Energy (NOWE) to develop a proposed wind energy project of up to 10GW including 2GW green hydrogen and battery storage, 25km+ off the coast of Newcastle, NSW.
Originally conceived in 2010, EPS Energy has been instrumental in developing the NOWE project and has been involved in stakeholder engagement in NSW and the Newcastle region since its inception. With an estimated capital investment of ~$25bn, EPS Energy is responsible for delivering specialist advisory to NOWE on the regulatory planning process, stakeholder engagement, and security of land tenure.
With experience in mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, structuring and strategic business advisory within the renewable energy industry, EPS Energy has also assisted NOWE through the process of securing a capital partner and will be involved as the project progresses through the Commonwealth Offshore Electricity Framework.

South Australia Portfolio
In partnership with Amp Energy, EPS Energy is developing several large scale solar and battery storage projects as a portfolio of renewable energy projects in South Australia.
Bungama Solar is a proposed 280MW (AC) utility scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system to be developed on approximately 530 hectares of cleared land east of Port Pirie, South Australia. For more information visit: www.bungamasolar.com.au.
Robertstown Solar is a proposed 500MW (AC) utility scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system to be developed on approximately 1800 hectares of cleared land 40km south-east of Burra, South Australia. For more information visit: www.robertstownsolar.com.au.

To date, EPS Energy has successfully completed financial and technical feasibility testing, site selection, preparation of Planning Report and sub-reports, lodgement of development applications and community engagement for these projects. Both Robertstown Solar and Bungama Solar project secured development consent in 2019. The projects have strong support from the community, have secured development financing and continue to mature.
Sub 5MW Utility Solar
As experts in renewable energy project delivery, EPS Energy has advanced a utility solar portfolio development model based upon strategically identifying, securing and connecting multiple <5MW solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System generators directly into the National Electricity Market (NEM) via Distribution Network Service Provider’s in QLD, NSW, VIC and SA.
With this model, EPS Energy undertakes detailed solar resource and grid capacity analysis to inform optimum site development opportunities across the NEM. We assist our clients to identify multiple sites with available generation capacity, suitable land and a positive planning outlook, balanced against their strategic priorities.
EPS Energy can successfully secure the land tenure through licence and leasing arrangements, prepare and coordinate planning approvals, and undertake pre-construction approvals through to shovel ready on behalf of our clients.

Renewable Energy - Wind
Compliance and Environmental Management
EPS Energy offers environmental compliance and management services to the renewable energy industry.
EPS Energy prepared the Environmental Management Strategy and a Compliance Monitoring and Reporting Program for a NSW wind project on behalf of a large windfarm developer. EPS’ experience in preparing strategies and programs resulted in preparation of a framework aligned with Stage government expectations for an expediated approval.
EPS Energy prepared a range of management plans to satisfy pre-construction approval conditions for a grid-scale wind project in the New England region. Plans included:

Bird and Bat Adaptive Management Plan;

Flora and Fauna Management Plan and investigating biodiversity offsetting;

Construction Environmental Management Plan;

Traffic Management Plan; and

Noise Management Plan.
Transaction Support
EPS can assist with support for renewable energy project transaction due diligence. EPS Energy has offered prospective portfolio purchasers services such as planning approvals process summaries and guidance, SWOT analysis and strategic insights.
East Australian Site Identification, Selection and Assessment
EPS Energy has recently completed site identification, selection and assessment works across the eastern states of Australia.
The assessment process initially involved interrogation of spatial data and review of relevant legislative instruments. Areas identified as suitable were then further investigated to understand land use history, ownership, property values and other details relevant to the development.
The assessment has resulted in progressing a number of utility solar photo-voltaic plants in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales.

Planning Assessment Toolkit
EPS Energy prepared a Planning Assessment Toolkit to assist Community Solar Energy Projects seek project development approval for developments within the Local Government Areas (LGA) of Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Port Stephens.
CLEANaS is a not-for-profit association formed in 2012, governed by a nominated Steering Committee who oversee projects and initiatives of the association.
The Lighthouse Community Renewable Energy (Lighthouse) Project, is a CLEANaS Project.
On behalf of CLEANaS, EPS prepared a suite of planning documents (referred to as a planning toolkit) that can be used by community organisations to attain development consent for commercial scale solar projects.
EPS’ planning toolkit formed part of a larger Lighthouse Project Toolkit that aimed to facilitate and assist community groups in developing and owning solar installations that would directly supply local businesses with renewable energy.
Riverina Solar
EPS Energy developed the initial 30MW Riverina Solar Farm, located in Yoogali, NSW. The project involves development of a photovoltaic commercial scale solar station designed to feed into the National Electricity Market, and utilising tracking solar panels which follow the sun’s movement throughout the day for maximum collection.
Successfully receiving development consent in June 2016 by the New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment, and connection agreement in 2018, Riverina Solar, through project owner Suntech, sought and obtained a further extension with TransGrid to increase the project's to 40MW.
